Sheepskin manfacturer and fashion boot producer Yellow Earth has challenged two long-held beliefs about doingbusiness in China. The first: - that you need to establish a sound footing in Australia before you head in that direction. Not so! And the second: beware the poor quality of Chinese workmanship. Not so either! Yellow Earth disregarded the first belief by going straight to China to establish a presence there first. And it's achieved that in astonishing fashion, with 40 stores in Shanghai alone, which it hopes to grow to 70 before the end of this year. The company also puts paid to the warnings about shoddy craftsmanship out of China. According to Yellow Earth's Susy Artico, manager of their recently-opened and only store in Australia, the quality ofworkmanship in China these days is superb, and the belief that it is outshone by Australian qualityis outdated.
