Studies show that workers over 55 are often more productive than any other age group, but they often find it hard to get new jobs. Peter Black, one of Australia's few Certified Retirement Coaches, says employers should recognise the value of their mature age workers, and offer retraining and flexible working conditions to keep them in the workforce. Demographic changes mean there'll be fewer workers available in coming years, providing a solid business case for extending people's working lives. A tripartite approach from government, employers and employees themselves is needed.
