Telling Gina Field that the security business wasn't for females produced a remarkable result - she not only became a security guard, she set up her own business, Nepean Regional Security, which is now highly successful. Gina says she needed a thick skin to overcome the male-only stereotype, and persistence to win over clients while working long hours on patrol. But she successfully demonstrated that security work in the hospitality industry didn't have to be confrontational, and she has networked her way to success and respect in her local area, which has led in turn to recognition in state awards for business excellence.
