Despite the relative strength of the Australian economy, the local stockmarket underperformed in 2011. So what's the outlook for investors in 2012? Elio D'Amato of Lincoln Stock Doctor says worries about Europe and the US still hang over us, and the first half of 2012 will probably produce more of the same. But he's optimistic about an upturn in the second half, based on the continuation of the resources boom and the underlying strength of many Australian companies. Confidence - or the lack of it - rermains a key factor, and vigilance and an eye to the longer term will still be crucial.
